Hi!

In this weekly blog, I'll write every week about my life, what I'm doing, reading, listening to, watching, and making. I'm finally taking a break to sit down and relax. My life has been pretty busy with my birthday last week and a bunch of other events. I watched the amazing superbowl halftime show yesterday that "only 90s kids could appreciate". I also correctly predicted the Rams victory, even if I have no clue about football. So far, my week has taken a good start.

Read this blog to find out what's up!

Hope to see you reading this and happy valentine's day!

xoxo,

Sophie

Reading stack

Here are two middle grade books that readers of all ages should indulge in!

The War That Saved My Life

By Kimberly BrubakerBradley

In the midst of WWII, Ada and her brother Jamie flee their cruel mother to a stranger's home in the counrty. Ada doesn't want to like Margret, her new caretaker, because she feels as if she is betraying her Mam back home, but Margaret is actually nice to her and doesn't treat her any different because of her foot. Read this book to find out what happens to Jamie and Ada fighting their own struggles while in the midst of a war.

Rating: 4.4/5

Rules

By Cynthia Lord

Catherine is a good sister, and she always tries to help her autistic brother, David, but sometimes he doesn't quite understand. Catherine struggles between being accepted in her neighborhood and being a good sister. Rules is a perfect book for fans of Out of My Mind and Fish in a Tree.

Since my birthday was last week, I thought I'd share some small gift ideas for February birthdays.

Lately I've been jamming out to a select few songs on rotation.

I wanted to listen to a variety of new artists, and if you do to, then feel free to take a listen!

Movies

Looking for a 3-hour thriller or a ten episode tantrum?

Tired of not knowing what to say when your friends ask what you're watching?

I've watched some pretty good shows and movies, if you need any suggestions.

  1. Zero to Hero

In this truly motivating tale, So Wa Wai, a boy born with cerebral palsy, defies the odds, and through hardships, struggles, love, and hope, he conquers obstacles in his path and becomes one of the greatest paralympic runners of his time.

Tear-o-meter: 99%

Rating: 4.8/5

Availability: Netflix

2. Secrets of Sulphur Springs

If you haven't watched season 2 of this show, then what are you waiting for? This disney channel series takes a different turn than most shows. Instead of glamour and glitter, this show focuses on supernatural activity taking place at a newly-restored hotel. Mysteries like a missing girl and ghosts lurk around every episode.

Rating: 4.9/5

Scariness: Mild to Medium- mostly mystery and plot twists

Availability: Disney +

That's it for this week. Stay tuned for more!
